my wife would probably say \ud83d\ude42 ), but then just for memories&#8217; sake I suppose.\u00a0 For a LONG time now, I&#8217;ve been working my home weather station, you&#8217;d think I&#8217;d be done by now, but I suppose it&#8217;s not only because of &#8220;creeping featurism&#8221; (well, that too), but the fact that I&#8217;ve been learning a LOT along the way: Using VSCode and PlatformIO, Espressif&#8217;s amazing MCU devices, KiCAD, etc.\u00a0 And, I just want to do it the &#8220;right&#8221; the r<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1201 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/unixwizardry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3634-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>esist on.\u00a0 (Might have used a dry rub-on resist (from Datak?) for the traces.\u00a0 \u00a0Then I used ferric chloride to remove the copper that wasn&#8217;t covered.\u00a0 \u00a0Interestingly, Bishop Graphics specialized in PCB board drafting supplies, like pads for passive components and IC&#8217;s, rolls of different width trace tapes, and more.\u00a0 Then came computer aided design software.\u00a0 The CEO of Bishop Graphics, thought, eh, PCB design using a computer is just a flash in the pan, right?\u00a0 (Dr Wang of Wang Laboratories didn&#8217;t see the advent of word processing on IBM PC&#8217;s, as well.)\u00a0 That CEO was let go and the new CEO tried to turn the ship around and embrace CAD for creating PCB&#8217;s, even selling its own CAD for Mac and IBM PC&#8217;s, but it was too late for Bishop Graphics.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-1ea4fc0 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"1ea4fc0\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-226aa94\" data-id=\"226aa94\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ddc352f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ddc352f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>My first introduction to using a PCB fab house was using a local company, Kalda Manufacturing, in the Seattle area, (no longer in business apparently) when I was working at Pacific Northwest Bell in the MMC (Minicomputer Maintenance Center).\u00a0<\/p><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1198 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/unixwizardry.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_3637-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>There was a group at the company that monitored and maintained the company&#8217;s ESS (Electronic Switching System) central offices; this group had several computers (maintained by my workgroup) that each used a line printer.\u00a0 These printers needed constant maintaining as well as needing to be fed paper all the time.\u00a0 I was asked if I could design a &#8220;line printer multiplexor&#8221;
